Guava or Psidium guajava L. varies from cherry-sizes to tennis-ball sizes to even larger grapefruit-sizes. Its skin colour may vary from light green to hues of yellow, while the colour of the flesh can range from white, creamy yellow, salmon pink to a blushing red.

As you bite into a guava, you first experience the hardy almost gritty skin, then the soft, juicy flesh and finally the seeds. The fruit as a whole is considered as a ‘super fruit’, for it is rich in fiber, vitamins A, B and C, and calcium at levels unusual in fruits. The skin of the Guava fruit alone contains 5 times more vitamin C than an orange. Since ancient times, Guava has been a famous cure against diarrhoea, gastroenteritis and dysentery. More recent studies suggest its efficacy for reducing blood sugar levels.

Guava is often prepared as a dessert, in fruit salads. In Asia, fresh guava slices are often dipped in preserved prune powder or salt. Because of its high level of pectin, guavas are extensively used to make candies, preservesjelliesjams, and marmalades and juices.

Our modernized strategies in plucking to packaging, ensures that your order of Guavas from U & H Lankafood Exports will arrive at your doorstep fresh, fragrant and mouth-watering.
