    What is Soursop?

In Sri Lanka, Soursop or Annona muricata is grown as a commercial crop for its 20–30 cm long, prickly, green fruit, which can have a mass of up to 2.5 kg. The flesh of the fruit consists of an edible, white pulp, some fiber and a core of indigestible, black seeds.

Its flavor is described as a combination of strawberry and pineapple with sour citrus flavor-notes contrasting with an underlying creamy flavor reminiscent of coconut or banana. Nutritionally, the fruit is high in carbohydrates, particularly fructose. Soursop also contains significant amounts of vitamin Cvitamin B1, and vitamin B2. There is evidence indicating that the Soursop fruit's extracts selectively inhibit the growth of human breast cancer cells, therefore making it more effective than Chemotherapy for cancer patients. U & H Lankafood Exports takes special care in the packaging and delivery of their Soursop, so that the nutritional value of the fruit remains intact throughout the entire export process.

The sweet pulp of Soursop is used to make juices, as well as candies, sorbets and ice cream flavorings.  Popularly, it is eaten raw when it ripens. Usually the fruits are plucked from the tree when they mature, and left to ripen in a dark corner, and are eaten when they are fully ripe.
